Please read System General Order # 16 in its' entirety.  There is a new HPT requirement for empty coal trains (hoppers).  The carrier is going to strictly enforce this requirement.  Let us demonstrate our professionalism and attention to detail.  Don't get caught "out of compliance"!!

  •  TRAIN HANDLING EXCEPTION REPORTING

PER GENERAL NOTICE #130:

All Locomotive Engineers Operating on the Powder River Division who experience any of the following incidents are required to hand deliver or fax completed "Engineer Report of Train Events" to their respective Road Foreman of Engines upon completion of that tour of duty.

      • Engineer Induced Emergency
      • Conductor Induced Emergency
      • Alerter Penalty Application
      • Heavy Reduction (a reduction of 20 psi or greater while moving above 20 MPH)
      • Full Service Application

  • "Going In Between" - On the Powder River Division the following will apply:

1. The radio may be used to communicate "Going In Between" while both crew members are in the cab of the locomotive. 

2. If using hand signals to communicate "Going In Between" the ground person must be on the ground at the "Going In Between" location before giving the proper hand signal.

The carrier is performing audits on this issue! - 04/28/2008

  • Whistling Crossings - General Chairman's Important Notice:

Be sure to whistle before, through, and beyond roadway workers ( MOW, Signal Maintainers, Track Riders, etc.) as the carrier is making no exceptions. Realize that this whistle procedure is required in the Alliance Terminal if workers are nearer than the first rail of the adjacent track. Remember this is for your job security and for their safety. - 04/28/2008
