If you are looking for more information regarding your Railroad Retirement, please read through
the sections below.
The following was put together to help you get some information and to help you get started with your retirement needs.
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR CLAIM NUMBER IS?
At retirement, you are assigned a claim number. It is how we identify you in our systems. We are not able to locate you easily by name or by employee number.
If you are an employee/railroader, your claim # is simply your Social Security Number preceded by an “A” (Ex: A XXX-XX-XXXX)
If you are the spouse of the employee, your claim # is the employee’s Social Security Number preceded by “MA” (Ex: MA XXX-XX-XXXX)
If you are a divorced spouse of an employee, your claim # is employee’s Social Security Number preceded by “XA” (Ex: XA XXX-XX-XXXX)

SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION:

ensured it was the appropriate action. If you believe you are entitled to benefits at SSA, you can visit their website and request an updated estimate at the below link or call their toll-free number at 1-800-772-1213. Once you have an updated estimate, call the RRB’s toll-free number at
