How to Apply for Membership

Thank you for your interest in applying for membership in the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen Division 622 in Alliance, NE.

Select Craft:

ENGINEERS - I currently hold seniority as a Locomotive Engineer.

TRAINMEN - I am currently a trainman, switchman, breakman, hostler, etc; or I am currently enrolled in the LETP Program:

Please understand that BLET only holds agreements covering the Engineer's craft.

What does this mean for you if you join BLET 622:

1. We WILL represent you locally with any disciplinary investigation; argue any claims the carrier declines; or any other help you need.
2. You will NOT be able to vote on any local agreements affecting the Conductor craft. (For example: changes to conductor pools, conductor rest days/cycles, etc. These are only voted on by the SMART-TD Union per agreement.)
3. You WILL remain working under SMART-TD conductor agreements even though you are a member of BLET.
4. You will NOT be able to vote on any national contract. The SMART-TD exclusively votes on the conductor portion of any national contract, and the BLET votes only on the Engineer contract.

This information is meant to inform you before you make your decision. Being an involved union member includes being able to use your voice to protect your job.
